DesinFix TM 135 in fermentation process for bioethanol production
Brazil has the world's largest ethanol production from sugarcane, but bacterial contamination decreases the ethanol yields. It was shown that the biocide DesinFix™ 135 can reduce the contamination without decreasing the yeasts' viability or negatively affecting the ethanol production.
متن کاملContinuous cellulosic bioethanol fermentation by cyclic fed-batch cocultivation.
Cocultivation of cellulolytic and saccharolytic microbial populations is a promising strategy to improve bioethanol production from the fermentation of recalcitrant cellulosic materials. Earlier studies have demonstrated the effectiveness of cocultivation in enhancing ethanolic fermentation of cellulose in batch fermentation. To further enhance process efficiency, a semicontinuous cyclic fed-ba...
متن کاملEnhanced Bioethanol Production in Batch Fermentation by Pervaporation Using a PDMS Membrane Bioreactor
The integration of batch fermentation and membrane-based pervaporation process in a membrane bioreactor (MBR) was studied to enhance bioethanol production compared to conventional batch fermentation operated at optimum condition. For this purpose, a laboratory-scale MBR system was designed and fabricated. Dense hydrophobic Polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) membrane was used for pervaporation. For fer...
متن کاملFermentation kinetics and continuous process of L-asparaginase production.
For the purpose of obtaining L-asparaginase in quantities from Erwinia aroideae, cell growth and enzyme formation were investigated in both batch and continuous fermentation. Using yeast extract as a growth-limiting substrate, the relationship between specific growth rate and substrate concentration was found to fit the Monod equation. The optimum temperature for enzyme production was 24 C, alt...
متن کاملProcess engineering economics of bioethanol production.
This work presents a review of studies on the process economics of ethanol production from lignocellulosic materials published since 1996. Our objective was to identify the most costly process steps and the impact of various parameters on the final production cost, e.g. plant capacity, raw material cost, and overall product yield, as well as process configuration. The variation in estimated eth...
